The Belgium rail system is having a scheduled strike on Oct. 5th.  If our train originates in Amsterdam with a final destination of Paris will it go as scheduled and just not stop in Brussels?  Or will it not travel through any part of Belgium during the strike?    Thalys train runs right through Belgium.

It’s difficult to say. The strike only has been confirmed today, the government’s response on the union’s demands was deemed insufficient.

The limited service schedule will only be published tomorrow 4th of Octobre. They prioritise traffic on the busy lines.

You should keep checking the Thalys and NMBS/SNCB website, and rebook if necessary.

If you have a lot more time, you could try to circle around Belgium via Germany

So far, Belgian railways expect a largely normal international service:

Thalys does not yet give any indication of the impact:

They do say that you can have your ticket rebooked if you want, free of charge. If you want that, do not try to rebook yourself, because that will not be possible free of charge and rebooking via Thalys means they should also ignore any quota that are normally in place.

NS don't have any information yet:

I'd say wait until tomorrow before deciding what to do.

The schedule is available. It seems that most, if not all Thalys trains will be running.

The only international trains really affected are the ICE’s to Germany.
