Hi, is the 50% discount valid for all CGN ferries on Lake Geneva? That map that is linked above does not show the Lausanne-Thonon and the Yvoire-Nyon ferry links, that I am interested in.It’s not helpful that CGN is not mentioned on the relevant page on the Interrail site then https://benefitsportal.eurail.com/?categories=1be1ba1c-80f5-4286-b255-3092f0d486cd&countries=CH Thanks!
Yes the one-country is fully valid on Domodossola - Locarno, like all Swiss tickets. There's a map available : https://www.interrail.eu/content/dam/miscellaneous/Map%20of%20Switzerland_SBB.JPG Thanks for that map link! I see the bus route from Tirano to Locarno is marked green, so also included in Interrail? I’d possibly need to take that… do you know if we can just hop on the bus or are reservations required? EDIT - Just found the answer elsewhere!
I used the Holyhead train 2 weeks ago, no seat reservation needed for both the Avanti and TfWales trains, whatever the Interrail app may say - but either way you can book a free seat reservation via GWR. Chester and Conwy are lovely and well worth a stopover. If you have a choice, the Avanti trains from Chester onwards seem to be much quieter than the TfW ones. Sit on the right going towards Holyhead for the best sea views. Lots of strikes coming up in Dec/Jan, I find that the independent.co.uk/travel website has good info on what is still running despite this.
Update, yesterday I was refused passage through the gates at Liverpool St station again with my Global Pass app, 2 staff members saying Interrail is not valid, but this time I could show a reply email from TfL Transport for London saying: “Interrail passes are valid on the Elizabeth Line, however as you say there are no QR code readers so you need to present these to staff. I will be passing your comments over to our Area Managers so that our staff can be re-briefed about the validity of Interrail passes. Also you can show this email to staff should you encounter any issues to show that it has been confirmed they are valid.”… and then they let me through. It all seems to depend on who is manning the gate.
The rules on the 2 in/out days are simple. On 2 of your flexipass or continuous pass days you can travel in your own country as well as any of the member countries. You do not need to leave your country on these days, so you could use them to get to an airport or ferry terminal. These can be taken at any time during your pass validity, not necessarily on the first and last day. They are optional so, if like me you live near an airport with low cost flights I fly out and use all my days outside the UK. They are part of your flexidays - not extra days. Any transport in your home country will trigger one of these 2 days, and once both have been taken the app will not allow any further travel in your home country. So crossing Germany from Paris will take one of these days. So if I understand well, I could use my Global Pass to LEAVE my home country Germany by rail twice during the pass validity, there’s no restriction that I need to enter once and leave once?I’ve already used one outbou
You do get a nice discount on the Stena Lines ferry from Hoek van Holland (NL) to Harwich (UK) with Interrail/Eurail, but that’s not Amsterdam...
PS - No problem with the exact same Trip on my android phone.
Thanks, I missed that somehow!
I’m not trying to plan - I will be travelling with my partner and have added several train journeys to the first travel day in the app, and apparently the app allows me to share ‘My Trip’ with her to automatically copy these to her mobile - but how?
