thank you very much for this. Its really helpful. Few follow up questions if thats ok.With the Paris to Zurich ticket - Are you suggesting just book a seat reservation from Paris to Strasbourg only ? If this is the case can I simply walk into the other train from Strasbourg to Zurich ? With Zurich to Venice - What do you mean by Dont use reservation only ? Why is this different from Paris to Zurich ticket ? Also I just noticed that I can get a ticket from Zurich to Milan without seat reservation . But need a reservation from Milan to Venice. Do you know how I can book this ? With Venice to Rome and Rome to Milan when I search the OBB website it comes up saying no tickets available but when I check here on euro rail it comes up saying I need a reservation. How do I make this ?
Are you thinking of day return trips from Zurich on scenic routes? In my opinion the most scenic routes are Chur to St Moritz and on to Tirano. Also Chur to Brig but these cannot be done in a day from Zurich. Other good rides are Bern to Brig and Arth Goldau to Bellinzona. Use the SBB app for detailed timings. Don’t waste money on the Glacier Express unless you want to dine in a restaurant car (expensive but superb). This train has a very high reservation fee which is obligatory. There are lots of local trains on the route of this train. Yes thinking of a day trip
Nearly all routes in Swiss have scenic parts. In the general site-country info, is a list of specific lines. In fact even some lines going out from Züri-along the lake, are quite scenic (IMHO), and you can even also use other nonSBB lines-see again main list in info. There are 5 or 6 lines that are heavily promoted as such-mostly becse they also have touristy=big supplmt special cars on them (though often only in main season, this will cease shortly), like Panorama Express Gotthard, Furka-Oberalp, Roofs of Swiss, Golden LIne (MOB to MOntreux), Bernina and Albina (Graubünden-so-east part toward Italy). ALL these lines you can enjoy for ´free´=no extra pay in the hourly normal trains that also run over them. With some planning you can do most of them also as daytours from Züri (a very expensive city) and come back same day. The main exception=pay a lot extra, is the BOB=Berner Oberland, which runs south from Interlaken to that Jungfrau mountain (highest line in EUR) with also some sidel
Thanks Yorkie. Just to confirm i thinking of purchasing the ticket tomorrow and my buying the 7 days in 1 month pass and my travel dates are between 5/10 -21/10. Are you suggesting that I add a trip to test for some day after 21/10 ?
Thanks AnnaB. Just to confirm a “travel day” is a day that use the day fro physical travel and not the day I add a trip to my pass ?i..e lets say I want to travel on the 5/10 at 9.30 but I may add the journey to my pass on the 4/10. Does this mean that 4/10 would be counted as a travel date if i add a trip to my pass for it to be used the day after ? Hope this make sense

You can now generate your own PCN. In addition, NS can also book TGVs without booking fees (since pass reservations are not available on their website) and they're less picky about credit cards than SNCF. Does this really work ?
Thanks. When doing the reservation do I need to do anything with Euro rial app or the ticket ? or the seat reservation completely separately so nothing needs to be done with the euro rail ticket
Thank you. Why is that every time I tried to generate pass cover number through this link with the same mobile pass number it gives me different pass cover numbers. Which one should I use to book the seat reservation
