On my reservation it says ‘1 Sitzplatz, 1. Klasse, Wg. 12, PL 56, 1 Fenster, Abteil.’ Now if my german is alright that means, ‘1 Seat, 1st class, car 12, seat 56’ Right? Correct. It continues with: 1 Window, Compartment. Great! Thanks for the info!
I have some experience with DB seat only reservations. Indeed there is no QR code. Don’t worry, that’s the way it is. In general, DB is open access, reservation is never mandatory. In fact, even at ticket check, they don’t seem to bother too much about it. They will check your ticket only. However, this is still very useful to make a reservation in my opinion, especially during heavily travelled periods. And DB has the Interrail friendliest seat reservation system in Europe, where you can choose your seat on a seat map. Thanks! I didn’t see the map myself, but I did get a good seat with a window. But since you have experience, could you help me figure out what this means? I think I know but I just wanna make sure.On my reservation it says ‘1 Sitzplatz, 1. Klasse, Wg. 12, PL 56, 1 Fenster, Abteil.’ Now if my german is alright that means, ‘1 Seat, 1st class, car 12, seat 56’ Right?
If you give your exact travel details (departure date, time and route) here you will get advice on how to make the reservation. There are several ways to make reservations. Yeah I figured it out, just booked directly with DB and it was actually a little bit cheaper, so I don’t know what the hell is wrong with the Interrail site, but thanks anyway though!
I'd say don't bother. Names on reservations generally aren't checked. Yeah that’s what I figured after reading on other forums but I guess maybe it could be different for Interrailers.
Hej. Note that IN Tysklan the main stasjonen is always HBF=Hautpbahnhof. Bad Godesberg is a local/small suburban stop, there are probably works on that day that this train is diverted. Normally they never stop there. Samma like ta toget till Trondheim and get off @ Hamar. Its DE so be prepared for delays and last minute changes. IF you travel a bit more in DE from june: read about the 9€ monthly ticket for ALL local transit, bustram, local train for till end of month. Yeah I get that, even if it was diverted though, it doesn’t really matter since it will arrive and stop in Koln before Bad-Godesberg.
Yes, all the dots are stops where you can board or leave train. And for the domestic high speed trains in Germany you don’t need a reservation. Thank you! I was like 99,9% sure but it’s nice to get confirmation. I’m glad I figured this out now though cause I wouldn’t want to be at a station somewhere looking for a train to Koln and it says Bonn-Bad, y’know? Especially since this isn’t the only train I’ll be taking that on the station board it says something else, I’m also taking a train from Nice to Lyon but the station board says that that train is going to Sarsbourg. Of course the train numbers would match but still.
I booked my interrail pass through a third party website in my country meaning I couldn’t do online bookings through the interrail site. You should be able to add any pass bought anywhere in your Interrail account, via My Trip and Travellers. Create a new trip and then add a traveller. I had no idea that was there. Thanks! Just did it, unfortunately the reservation tool gives me an error message when I click it though.
Edit: Tip 3: https://www.b-europe.com/EN/Booking/Pass#DeliveryMethod this site is a lifesaver. I booked my interrail pass through a third party website in my country meaning I couldn’t do online bookings through the interrail site. This site is informative, easy to use and effective. Definitely worth a look.
Oh okay! For some of them it seems that they’ll only open 60 days before. I have the example of this one from Milan to Vienna. Do you think we should also book the seats in trains that it is not required since we’re traveling in July and August? Thanks for your help! I think you’d probably be okay not reserving it, but it is pretty cheap, cheaper than buying the whole ticket, but I think if you did reserve it you’d more or less pay for piece of mind.
Some trains, if not most won’t let you reserve seats or even buy/reserve the ticket more than 60 days ahead.
I can’t get a ticket either. Hopefully they prolong the sale or offer the discount to those who tried to buy a ticket today... I mean I managed to get a ticket, but I haven’t recieved a confirmation email, I think it’s due to the fact that a lot of people are trying to access the site and it’s overloading the servers.
