When I am going to make a reservation by Eurail, it is not clear what I should fill in the first two fields
Before you enter the shipping details, please contact the hotel/hostel where you'll be staying and double check whether they are willing to receive registered mail on your behalf. All reservation paper tickets are sent by registered mail which requires a signature upon delivery and most paper tickets get returned to us because there is no one available to sign for the package. After the hotel has confirmed, please ask them if there is a specific concierge or C/O that is responsible for your own reference. In the first field, you can fill out the hotel name and in the second field please fill out your own name. Double check all postal details for accuracy. You will receive a track and trace code via email as soon as we've shipped your tickets. It is highly advisable to make this reservation in advance. As many other members have pointed out, there are alternative methods to reserve this route such which you can find on this post.
It might be useful to keep in mind that the rail planner app needs at least Android 6.0 or iOS 13.0 and later to be able to function properly. Other things that might be hindering app functionality is your device settings. Please set your calendar to Gregorian and timezone on ‘automatic'. If the error persists, please enable app error logging in the app's settings and get in touch with our customer service team using this link: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new.
Your pass is valid on that train. Just ask a reservation for Interrail. Deutsche Bahn should also be able to book this train, but only at the ticket office or via phone. Ive never been interrailing before so how does it work? Do I need to show them proof I have an interrail pass? It might be useful to take a look at the video on this page as it explains pass activation and adding journeys.
I'm not sure where you received this information from, but all One Country passes are only valid for travel within the borders of the country in question. There are a few exceptions with the German pass. This is clearly stated in the general terms and conditions of the pass on this page. You can request an exchange by submitting a request to our customer service team here. You can refer to our refund and exchange policy for more information.
Unfortunately it is not possible for us to change or alter an address after purchase is complete. In this case, please cancel your current reservations in your overview and we will refund these reservations once it is returned to our office. You can make new reservations either via our self-service or, indeed, by calling SNCF on +33 1 84 94 3635. Please remember to press #85 for English assistance.
The Sofia-Istanbul Express resumed operation in April 2022 and should still be running. You can find more information about it here. The timetable should be available on the Turkish carrier's website and reservations can be made locally at the station. Please keep an eye out on the carrier's website for travel contingencies.
We are currently working on the timezone issue as that affects reservations from our self-service too. There is no clear timeline yet of when this will be completed. For passes though, please note that your date of birth should be displayed correctly on your pass once you're Europe and your devices automatically adjust to CET. If you'd like to make reservations while you're still in the US, please adjust your device's settings to CET so that the tickets are issued on the correct date :)
As other community members have pointed out, the Rail Planner app is not updated often since it was designed to be able to operate offline. That means that it can't show the latest schedules and last minute contingencies. We do recommend using it in conjunction with another app such as the DB or SBB app so you can get accurate departure info in real time. Alternatively, please consult the relevant carrier's website for the most up-to-date info :)
A Eurail pass is by no means mandatory in order to travel on trains in Europe. It's simply a travel product that operates as a single train pass that lets you travel as much as you want on participating European train networks for a set amount of travel days. For high-speed and night trains an additional reservation fee is required. In many cases, such as a single journey, this is often not the most economic way of traveling. In that case, you can simply buy a full fare single ticket from the relevant train carrier. You should be able to purchase full fare tickets for both journeys from OBB's Nightjet.
If kids are included in as a part of adult pass do I need to book a seperate reversation for kids where the train demands a reservation?
In addition to this, it might be useful to add that you should add the free child pass to your order before checking out. Kids 4-11 are eligible for a free pass and reservations are required for them. Kids under 4 do not strictly need a pass or reservation. The exception to this is night trains and high speed trains. Kids of all ages will require a pass and reservation if you want them to have their own seat/bed. You can find more info here.
In addition to the above information: Please reach out to our customer service team if you were unable to use a reservation due to a delay/cancellation. You can reach us by submitting a request using this link: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000353297. Italian and Thalys reservations can usually easily be re-booked at the station.
Thanks for flagging this! It can sometimes happen that reservations booked through the Eurail reservation service is issued in the wrong class. This happens due to a server miscommunication between our system and the carrier's system. If you haven't already, can you please reach out to our customer service team by submitting a request here: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000353297. We'll be happy to either re-book or refund your tickets.
Please note that the type of discount you get depends on the kind of pass you have. Global pass holders are eligible for a 30% discount on Superfast Ferries. You are eligible for free passage only if you have a 6-day Greek Island pass. If you hold a 6-day Greek Island pass and were not allowed free passage, please get in touch with our customer service by submitting a request here: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new
This trip is certainly possible, but I would recommend that you do your research and planning in advance. We have a general informational page for interested Interrailers here. Please note that certain trains in this journey, such as the Eurostar will require a reservation. The train system in Germany is likely familiar to you, but you can read about traveling in the UK by train here. Reservations in the UK are generally not needed, but it is important to note that they do not share their complete timetable data with us. You can find this directly on National Rail's website and add the journey manually to your rail planner app. You're welcome to ask further questions in the Community or you can submit a request to our customer service here: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new
All reservations for travel between Spain and France can only be issued in paper format that needs to be posted to you by traditional mail. @Claudi. This is true for ordering via Interrail/Eurail but not when you order via SNCF: they can send reservations by email. Are there any plans to implement this on the Interrail/Eurail reservation website? Oh yes of course, sorry I thought that was implied in my answer, but thanks for flagging, I've made it more explicit now. This issue is definitely on our radar. We do know how problematic the paper tickets are. It’s unnecessarily logistically complicated, not climate friendly, and liable to all sorts of delivery issues that's a major pain point to our travelers. Ideally it is something that we would like to improve on and be able to issue electronically. Realistically, I have no idea how urgently that matter is being addressed or what the time frame for it would be.
Reservations purchased from Interrail/Eurail for travel between Spain and France can only be issued in paper format that needs to be posted to you by traditional mail. The general rule of thumb is to order this at least 6 business days in advance to ensure timely delivery, although the lead time was significantly extended this last summer season. As an alternative, you can follow the advice of fellow Interrailers above.
