Booking group bookings via the app

How do I book as a group via the mobile app? Is that impossible, can it only be done via the website?

Also, why is the website so disconnected from the app? I have an account to log into on the website, but just have to enter my pass details to get into the app.

Big question: If I book an interrailing trip via the website will that come through on my app? As my app is connected to the same pass?

Any help would be massively appreciated, only got a few days to book!

How big is that group? Why not give complete details? Up till 4 or 5 is often the MAX limit in 1 go on most sites.

Tipically here every newbee thinks to be smarter as the old fashioned systems of many a railway-its mostly a thing of ´you have to use how it is offered-your private wishes are maybe for next year´

Thanks to an over 1 century old system of ticketing and RES (if needed-well over 90% of EUR trains do not-but all newbees always want to take the difficult trains) these are not related to one-just as was the case many years ago with IATA airticketing. This thus-again some logical thinking-also means that RES when made do not appear in app as such-they get mailed-in space or if you choose unwisely-even as paper in the mail in your letterbox.

No reservation are made through the app. The app only redirects you to other websites where the actual reservations are made.

As @mcadv says. It depends on the size of your group where you need to make the reservations. Or you choose to travel on trains that don't require reservations.

Reservations on the Eurostar you need to make well in advance though. When do you plan to start your travel?

Here is some useful information from the experienced travellers in the Community regarding both planning, reservations and activation of pass and travel days.

 Planning

The rail planner is normally not up to date, as it only is updated once a month, so to be sure of the time table you better check the timetable and availability on the websites of the national railways. The bigger national railways, like DB (Germany) SBB (Switzerland) and ÖBB (Austria) cover several countries.

 Reservations

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is to use other ways to make reservations than the Interrail/Eurail website.  You can look at the guide in the link:

https://community.eurail.com/train-connections-reservations-47/how-to-get-reservations-105

If you, after having looked at the guide, have questions about how to make specific reservation, please give your travel details (departure date, time and route) preferably in a new topic, and you will get advice.

Please note that Interrail/Eurail charges an extra fee of 2 EUR per person and train in addition to the fee for the seat reservation.

 Activation of pass

During the activation process, when you choose the start day of the validity of the pass, the first day of the validity period is automatically made a travel day, even if you don't enter a journey, the advice is therefore not to activate the pass before the first travel day as you only can deactivate the pass before 00.00 on the day the validity starts. If your travel plans change in the last moment you will loose travel days if you have activated the pass in advance.

It can be wise to make a test and activate the pass with a start date well in the future and then deactivate the pass immediately, just to see that everything works.

 Activation of travel day

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is also never to activate a travel day, that is connect a journey to your pass, until just before boarding the train, otherwise you might loose a travel day if your travel plans change in a late stage  You can't delete a travel day in the past. A travel day can only be deleted until 23.59 CET the day before the travel day.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the advice.

So how should I go about booking trains? Via the website?

And are you saying the app is completely useless? Does it not have e-tickets on it?

And just to answer your question, it’s a group of 3!

You decide yourself where you make the reservation. For 19 of the 33 countries included in Interrail/Eurail offer you can make reservations through the Interrail/ Eurail website. Then you need to pay 2 EUR in an extra fee per person and train. Some reservations are also sent as paper reservations from Interrail/Eurail.

Making reservations for 3 person can be done at all sites. Groups are from 6 or 9 persons depending on the railway company.

Where will you be travelling?
