Hi there! Today we were supposed to travel from Genova to The Netherlands. but due to strikes in Italy and Germany we are stranded in Milano. Who should we contact? and can get our travel days back or a refund. Interrail didn’t informed us about the Italy strike.

We found a solution that could be helpful for others too. We just continued our trip the next day with our invalid pass and we told the train staff in the train that we were stuck because of the strike and that we took the first travel option again and it was all fine. Waiting for customer service of interrail wasn’t an option because that took too long.

Just curious: what did the local staff in Milano say? They were responsible to help you with the extra overnight stay and travel the next day, all of that at no extra costs.

The first to ask is the Station staff in Milan your Interrailpass is a valid ticket :) they have to arrange your onward journey and if not possible today they have to provide you with a hotel voucher and make your pass valid for the onward journey :)

Worstcase is to get in contact with Eurail via Facebook, Twitter or the Service form :)
