What happens during changing of trains
Hello! Some background context: I have never travelled in Europe and hence have never boarded any of these Eurail trains before. Also, my vaccination is not an EMA vaccination and hence is not recognised in all European cities. I thus make sure that my country I am setting off from and my destination country all accept my vaccination type. However, I am concerned about the issue of having to change trains during the journey, and would like to ask about the procedures that take place during changing of trains in a stopover country during the journey. Specifically, if I have to change trains in countries that don’t accept my vaccination type, will I be stopped from changing trains? Or is it that so long as I can board the train from my starting country, there will be no issue in changing trains in the stopover city i.e. vaccination status will not be in issue during the stopover?Thank you so much!
How to add booked reservations to the portal/app?
Hello, normally I would contact customer service, but there isn't one. Just cruel. Maybe you can help me. I had to book a ticket through Austria "ÖBB" because it was not bookable. That worked wonderfully and I have the e-ticket. But how do I add the seat reservation to the portal? Thanks very much.
Cannot reserve seats on trains Scandinavia
I have a question regarding seat reservations. I am planning to travel from 26-06 untill 07-07 through Scandinavia. For this I bought the interrail global pass. Now I wanted to look to make seat reservations for the trains, but there is not possibility to reserve any seats on the tracks I want. They all show an exclamation mark on the site and when I look on the other site, like for example for Sweden, it says 'not available'.I looked for seats on the track Stockholm to Kopenhagen (29-06), Copenhagen to Gothenburg (02-07) and Gothenburg to Oslo (04-07). I thought everything would be fine as I looked up train times before buying the pass, but now I cannot reserve seats so that would mean I got the pass and booked flights for nothing. Or is this because it is still so far away and will there be seats available later? I would like to know more about this. I hope someone can help me and inform me about this. Thanks in advance.
Tickets from London to Liverpool
Hello everyone I am travelling with my sister to Liverpool from London on March 26th. We wanted to book our seats but it says “You can't book this connection through our self-service system. Please find an alternative way to book.”. The only solution seems to be buying tickets directly at the train station the day of the departure. Can we be sure that there will still be any seats left on the D-day ? Won’t prices be higher ? or do we have to make the reservation on an other website and therefore not use the interrail pass ? Thank you in advance for your help :) Have a nice day Lucy
How far in advance should I get to the station and do trains have a limit on number of people they allow?
I’m interrailing in May-June time and wasn’t planning on booking reservations when they’re not required. On the rail planner app it says the train times, for example Berlin- Brussels, 6:46am-13:26pm, does this mean that the train leaves the station at 6:46 or arrives at the station at that time. How long before setting off do the trains get to the station, how far in advance should I get there to ensure I get on? Also, if I haven’t reserved a seat, is there a limit to the amount of people that the train allows (I assume I will be standing which is fine). Will the train just fill up or is there a maximum amount of passengers allowed. I don’t want to not be able to miss/not get on as there’s a big gap between train times.
Reservations in Portugal; will I be charged extra and can I only book them locally at the train station?
Hello,I have an Interrail pass to travel in Portugal, with the intention of travelling in May. As I like to plan early, I was looking at potential train routes to travel around the country. I looked on the Rail Planner app to see how I’d book the routes I want, but it stated that a reservation was required. I then checked on the Interrail website and saw that for Portugal, reservations have to be booked locally at the train station. The questions I have are:Would I be charged extra for the reservation (it’s a first class pass so I hope not)? Is this definitely the only way of doing reservations (given that we’re still in Covid times, it’s odd that online reservations isn’t an immediate option)? Many thanks
Questions about seat reservations
HelloFirst of all I would like to know if there is a phone server. 1. How can we know that the reservation has been validated? Is it when the seat reservation fee has been paid, or just when the trip has been entered in the application and in the pass?2. When do I have to pay to reserve the seats?3. And once paid, is it modifiable and/or cancellable?4. I have seen that on your site for seat reservations, for some routes it is impossible to reserve (e.g. for Spain, or when there is an error message "No fare has been found for this connection. Please perform a new search or find another reservation method"). What should I do in this case?5. Also, sometimes it says "Seat availability unknown", what does this mean?6. How can I get two passengers to sit next to each other on the train, knowing that both passes are registered on the app on two different phones? Thank you in advance.
Night train booking not available
I’m wanting to book night trains for my longer journeys but the rail planner app doesn’t offer any. I want to book them in the following places. Venezia S.L. → Klagenfurt Hbf Reservation via OBB states "Tarvisioverkehr Pass1". Is this the right ticket?
Hey there,I’ve recently booked a reservation from Venezia S.L. to Klagenfurt Hbf via ÖBB and got a Mobile Pass. When I attempted to book the ticket on the Interrail Self-Service platform, there was no reservation available anymore. Because I needed to get that train, I tried to find another way to get that reservation via the ÖBB. I selected my age and in the discount tab “Interrail / Eurail - Globalpass” and booked the ticket there for 10€. When I recieved my reservation I’ve opened the .pdf and saw that there was no departure or arrival station listed. There was only this: “Tarvisioverkehr Pass1”. Did I book the right ticket? It’s the RJ132 on 04.03.2022.Thanks for your help :)
Limited options for trains Slovenia to Italy. Why?
Hi I am planning on travelling from Lake Bled to Florence on the beggining of july but there is only one train available that takes 2 travelling days… In the app there are many more trains until june, is it because the schedule is not updated yet or because of covid or something? Also when I don’t know what it means when next to the seat reservation appears N/A, does this mean that there are no seats left/ the reservation is not needed? Thanks!
Making reservations at the train station. Do they charge the Eurail passholder fee or full ticket price?
I am trying to book some trains and noticed that many of them require paper tickets to be mailed which I won’t have access to while traveling of course, so I was planning on going into the train station to buy the tickets in person. So my question is, if I go to reserve my seats in person, will they charge me the price of a full ticket even though I have a Eurail global pass? Thanks:)

HEADS-UP! All Nightjets to/from Italy (except to Venice) aren't running in July of 2022
Yeah, what I said in the title really…These are among the most popular night train routes on the continent, and not only is July peak season on a normal year, but 2022 will also be the first proper chance many people have had to travel abroad since the pandemic began. Accordingly there will be a lot of travellers planning to use these trains in July, and this track work couldn’t really have come at a worse time. :-(I’m aware that quite a few of the more expert users of this forum will already have known about this, but hopefully anyone who didn’t - and was counting on these trains for their itinerary - will see this reminder and adjust their plans accordingly. One possible alternative option for those who had been planning to come from Munich is the Trenitalia sleeper from Bozen, but this is on weekends only and only works for those travelling to Rome.
Struggling to find the night train from Thessaloniki to Belgrade
Hello everyone,My friends and I are planning an interrail trip for this summer (4th-28th July)! We found on lots of websites (e.g rail.cc) the mention of a night train from Thessaloniki to Belgrade on an interrail line, but on the official interrail website can only find the Belgrade to Thessaloniki night-train (Hellas express)!Ideally we want the reverse route of this train. Does anyone know if it exists, like other websites state, or alternatives if it no longer does?Thank you,Lexi
Can't find night trains in the app for my longer journeys.
I’ve tried planning my route using the rail planner app but can’t seem to find any night trains. Some of the train journeys I’ve chosen are quite long (7-8hrs) and no option for a night train is available. I don’t really want to be going on long journeys during the day so a night train is the best option, does anyone know how to find a night train if it doesn’t show on the app or anything that means I don’t have to travel long hours during the day. Thanks.
