Hi there I am looking for trains Marseille to aix En Provence and I am asked to reserve a seat for 12 eur, on the high speed train. Checking the tgv website, a new ticket costs 9 eur. How is that possible?

Forget that TGV for that short distance-simply use to cost-free local/regional TER trains-ev hour or so, that serve the better station right smack IN the centre of Avg. Also saves you the cost of the busticket to get there from TGV

Domestic TGV reservations are fixed price, either €10 for limited numbers and then €20 after the €10 are sold out for that train (plus booking fee).

This applies no matter the length of the journey so for a very short trip such as the one you are taking it can be cheaper to buy local tickets.

Short journeys on local/regional trains do not have any reservation fees.

Be aware that there are 2 different stations; Aix En Provence in the town itself and Aix En Provence TGV which is in the countryside about 10km out of the town.
