Have prices for hotels in Amsterdam suddenly become very expensive? Trying to find reasonable accommodation for a family of 4 at the end June/start of July close to Centraal Stn. Prices much higher than other big coties including London and Paris! Any help appreciated.

You have a pass so the solution seems daft simple to me: find accom somewhere along a direct line to this city-which in fact now very actively (city council) is trying to get rid off the too many tourists who spoil normal daily life.
Think/search (use a site like booking for best general overveiw-you do not need to book via them-can try to google for site of hotel itself) Zaandam, Haarlem, Hilversum, even Leiden. Or Hoofddorp (mostly airport hotels-but close to a suburban stop)
Thanks, we arrive into Amsterdam at 9 at night so wasn’t too keen on going further afield but may be necessary. Wasn’t aware that visitors were being deterred!
