All the Sleepers! - on one Map

I often use the ÖBB map of sleeper services - which covers their own trains and some Euronight services, but notably misses SNCF and Trenitalia.I was searching online for a more comprehensive map, and found this - an interactive map of all the sleepers in Europe, including details on frequency, timing, operator. Sicily to Switzerland Trip

Hello Back on the rails this year and the second trip I’m planning (thank you pass sale) is Sicily, (TRAIN ON A BOAT!), dawdle up through Italy, over the moutains into Switzerland, swim in some lakes/climb some mountains and mooch home.Just wondering if anyone out there has done that route and has any recommendations or advice?Might be the last rail trip the teenager will do with me, sniff.ThanksSarah

Travel from Kolari to Gällivare

Hi,I am planning a scandinavia trip for 1 or 2 months sometime in April-June on my own and would like to spend a few days in Ylläs. Is it correct that there is absolutely no “direct” bus connection or so between Kolari and Gällivare? So the only public transport way is to make the huge detour via Lulea etc? Do you know where I could ask for a rideshare if maybe someone is travelling by car? Or how high do you think the chances are that I will meet someone along the way that is planning this route? :D

Hello ! I am travelling (alone) in scandinavia with the global pass, and at the moment i am in Stockholm.I used to not organize anything and move where i feel to go and i’ve only did big cities. But now, i would love to go to stunning nature places as i know these countries have to offer.Do anyone has recommendation or itineraries to visit these countries? I’ll be there for the next 4-5 months or more, so i have time to go everywhere!Big preference for nature while slow travelling, if it can be optimized with the weather of the next months (i mean, prioritizing “best” places in the “best month” for it) would be awesome.Thank you very much !

Getting to ski resorts 2024/25

As it’s getting towards winter, I thought I’d share a couple of new services that are around this winter, and some very useful maps I’ve found that help make sense of existing trains.Eurostar are operating a weekly service from Amsterdam & Brussels to the Isère Valley, with connections available from London via Lille. Details from UK and from BE/ NL. European Sleeper are going from Brussels/ Amsterdam to several alpine Austrian stations, though only on an odd selection of dates.Snowcarbon is a great resource for finding your way to ski resorts. They have recommended train times (from London) and also details on transfers to the resort from the nearest station, including some often hard-to-find bus timetables. They also created these maps, showing the all routes for reaching the Austrian Alps, and the French ski resorts from Northern Europe.SBB - I’m always impressed by Snow ‘n’ Rail from SBB, which combines a train ticket with a lift pass, at a discount. Optimizing traveling by night

Hello beautiful people! I’m planning a Eurotrip for my 30th birthday in February/March 2025 and I’d like your advice on how to get from city to city using the Eurail Pass. Whenever possible, I would prefer to travel by night to save money/lower the cost of my trip. Here’s my itinerary so far:Barcelona (3-4 days) Marseille (2-3 days) Milan (2-3 days) **or should I go to Venice instead? along the northern spanish coast

Hi!We want to go along the northern spanish coast. A few questions: 1.) For the feve railways: Which part is the most scienic? As the trains are really slow, we would only go where it is much more nice than the normal renfe railway…2.) I have seen, there are some Renfe trains in the rail planner app called TRN where are reservation is said to be needed. When I click on the details, there is only a 6€ fee for second class. We have Interrail first class. So is there no fee for us or is there no first class? Could it be, a only second class train where a reservation is needed?3.) Anyone of you went on the Spanish northern coast from Hendaye to northern Portugal? Which combination of trains seems to be especially good? I remember that some renfe trains offered free food for first class passengers and that there was also a scientic mountain route which is now replaced by a high speed tunnel…

Looking to plan for future trip - tips please

Evening all.I hope you are all well. I would like some advice and tips about using the global pass (specifically 3 month pass) for our travels around Europe.I have looked at various videos and reviews on YouTube regarding this way of travelling and most positive although, there are some that are negative and they do highlight some important issues.One guy was saying about reliability and frequency of trains in eastern Europe? can anyone confirm if this is the case please? Also apparently the train station names do not match with what is on the app so it can be a tad confusing according to the reviewers. Can someone who has travelled recently using the Interrail pass please advise on anything you think we should be aware of? We want to try plan in advanced as much as possible and to start our trip early-,mid next year and would appreciate all feedback, tips and advice.We understand that we have to make reservations in certain countries. My 2 months on rail crossing Europe

Hello everybody!How are you? I decided to “shout out” my trip, done from 6th of April to the 6th of June – 2023It was a great experience and maybe it can inspire some route you can do, connections available and maybe I can be helpful sharing few hints.Short bio: I am 40 y.o. I love to backpack around but I’m getting a bit soft, but still a good walker.I did this as solo traveler, pretty often I spent 2/3 nights (so, mostly 3 full days) each city, in some cases a bit longer (Istanbul, 6 days, Lofoten Islands, 8 days). I think travel by train make it possible and less stressful, even the itinerary was a bit crowded. Stations are closed to the center, travel is most of the time relaxing, a good way to refill the battery.Eventually, this trip was planned in weird way. I wanted to visit Istanbul and Scandinavia (easy peasy!).On the way I was invited also by some friends in Spain, so I added it at the end of the list. Plus, many years ago, I did my Erasmus in Germany and I lived for a while

Hello, I want to go with my family (2 adults, 2 children 2,5) with the Flambahn. I already heard, that I can buy discounted tickets only a ticket offices and maybe any hotline. Do you know the price of a discounted round trip ticket?Do you know if there is a ticket office in Myrdal?Is there a nice way to combine a ship in the fjord with a trip to Bergen or Flam?Or is it better in Andalsness?

High reservation fees in sweden?

We (2 adults, two children 2,5) would like to travel in Sveden with Interrail first class. We would like to go with x2 / x2000 train from Malmö to Gotenburg but on Interrail app, a reservation is 19€. Four times 19€ seems a little expensive to me.Are there any cheaper options / is reservation really needed? or are there any benefits like free meal?

Planing Spain to Portugal and Back

Hi, I’m trying to plan a trip from Sevilla to Lisbon to Nazare to Porto and then to Bilbao. Then I would find a way to France after Bilbao. None of these trips seem very straight forward and any travel between Portugal and Spain seems difficult. Is there a best way to get to get to Lisbon from Spain either from Sevilla or elsewhere. And is there a recommended route to get from Porto back into Spain? Any help is appreciated.

Best experience UK First class

Hi,maybe somebody has experience how to travel best in UK with an Interrail first class ticket?I have seen, there are different companies e.g. for London - Edinburgh: LNER, Virgin, …Would it be best to go by LNER because there is free food? Are there other good advices, like especially comfortable trains with first class ticket, or lounges we have to see?Maybe also some nice trains for train lovers (like old diesel Intercity trains e.g. Edinburg - Inverness)?And maybe special advice when you arrive with Eurostar at 8pm in St. Pancras. Would it be good to go for one more station heading to Edinburgh for cheaper accommodation than in London?Thanks, Thomas

Travel from Paris to Switzerland then to Rotterdam

I have a 10 days global EU rail pass and i will be travelling from Paris on 27 Dec to Switzerland. I would like to ride on Glacier Express and / or Bernina express. I need to be in Rotterdam on 2 Jan late afternoom. Can someone please give me advice on the route. I am also unsure of the best way to travel from Switzerland to Rotterdam as i have heard that the Nightjet may not be a good option. Please also share tips on how to avoid bookings with a fee.
