Hello! I will be staying with my family of 4 in Interlaken this July. We will all have an Interrail pass (1st). I’m sure I read before about passes being used to get boat trips Lake Thun and Interlaken. Does anyone know if this is the case and if you need to book in advance or how you go about this? Any recommendations much appreciated!!

The Ferry on lake Thun and lake Brienz is fully included. You just add it like all the other trains and activate the journey.

It is not necessary to book in advance. If you have a flexi pass, you will need a travel day.1st class is on the upper desk, but seats are not always better as in 2nd class.

I think they run 2 times a day in summer.

+7Yes you need an active travel day to take the ferries on lake Thun and Brienz.
The ferries start directly at the train stations Interlaken Ost and West (depending on which lake you want to do)
They also stop close to the train stations in Brienz and Thun.

No need. You can not even reserve in advance. You just add it like any reservation free train to your pass and are good to go.
+7If you are in that are and have an active travel day, you can also take the cable car(Lauterbrunnen ->Grütschalp) + train to Mürren (I just noticed that it is closed from 13. April until 10. July 2026) It is also included like normal trains. Starting from Interlake Ost it takes arround 45min to get to Mürren.

Yes its like the ferry, and of course you can do both on the same day. The 45min were from Interlaken. Its a short train to Lauterbrunnen, then the cable car and then another short train ride.
