ist there any connection between Hendaye/Irun and San Sebastian by train or bus? I want to travel in October.

Yes there is Euskotren. 
It runs every 30 min and is very cheap (3-4€, buy at the station).
It doesn't appear on all planners but you can find it on Google Maps for example. Interrail/Eurail not accepted.
