Hi! I am planning to do an Interrail trip for 4 days from Frankfurt to Marseille in May.

I was thinking to go from Frankurt to Geneve and stay there less than one day, and then go to Marseille.

I would stay in Marseille 2 full days  and then left on the third day back to Frankfurt.

Do you have any suggestions?

Is the weather nice in May to go to the beach in Marseille?

Do you think I should include more stops?

Thank you for your help!

Do you have to start in Frankfurt ? It's not the most interesting city either and it's quite out of the way.

I'd suggest Lausanne instead of Geneva but that's only my opinion.

Book in advance the TGV high-speed train between Lyon Part-Dieu or Valence TGV and Marseille (10-20€). Also possible to take slower but reservation-free regional trains.

For the way back to Frankfurt : take the very convenient direct TGV leaving Marseille at 08:12 every morning (arrival 15:59). 18€ mandatory reservation.

May has nice weather but the Mediterranean might be a bit cold, depending on your taste!

Btw if you're thinking to travel during one of the May holiday weekends, book trains requiring mandatory reservations ASAP as they'll sell out far in advance.

Thank you!
