Hi  🙂 . We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children 10 yrs+) and we will arrive in Lausanne on August 10, stay until August 15. 2 questions:

1. If we have a pass valid for Switzerland and our plane lands in Milan, is the train included to Lausanne?

2. What day trips would you recommend from Lausanne? (We have booked the hotel in Lausanne for the entire period).

Thank you 😊

If you have a pass valid in Switzerland only, your pass is not valid from Milan (Italy). You might be able to get a relatively cheap ticket from Milan to the border point (Chiasso or Domodossola) from where your pass is valid.

If you have a global pass, you can travel between Italy and Switzerland using your pass.

You can see the map of train routes in Switzerland where Interrail/Eurail is valid here: interrail.eu/content/dam/miscellaneous/Map%20of%20Switzerland_SBB.JPG

There is the very helpful Comazzi Bus between Malpensa Airport and Domodossola : https://www.comazzibus.com/eng/index.php

That way you don't need to enter Milan (unless you'd like to of course).

From Domodossola your pass is valid as advised by Schelte.

Wow, thank you so much for your fast replies and for taking time to explain me. And on tge trips to Lausanne, do you have any recommendations? Thank you 😊

From Lausanne there are endless possibilities :

- Gruyères

- Bern

- Montreux, Vevey

- Golden Pass route (reservations not needed) : Montreux - Zweisimmen

- etc.
