Solved the problem - I couldn’t find anything on the DB website, or get an email reply from them, so I tried the live chat on the NS International site and had an almost instant response. There are indeed engineering works on the Dutch side of the route between 17 and 23 October.
I have my reservation for 2/10 - its 17/10 I can’t make at the moment, but the national holiday weekend makes sense thats when they do it here in the UK, or during Christmas holidays. My whole trip is based around 3 NightJet legs which obviously had to be booked ahead to get the berths I wanted.
I assume engineering works, for which the timetables still have to be finalised. Thanks, is that common on a weekday?
Also, if you are trying to book for a Saturday there are never any Saturday departures on any Caledonian Sleeper route.
Except the ride on London Undergr from Padd to Euston station must be paid =not included. This should be done by bank/crd card on enter/leave gates. Oh-and yes, you can also come back same way-or other if you fancy to see more of this island in the Northsea. SEats on the LNER train Lon-YOrk can be REServed for free -only on a counter in the UK. You CAN book LNER seats online…..link below, for ticket number just enter 0 if the site doesn’t take your cover # and if you want a specific seat you can then edit your seat after you have made the reservation. 😀 https://www.lner.co.uk/travel-information/make-a-reservation/
This route is part of a frequent local service along the Cote d’Azur and served by double decker trains - you’ll only ever have to stand on the busiest peak hour trains. Monaco station can be a little confusing as it is buried in the cliff and is multi level with entrances/exits on different levels. More info is here, with a station map .pdf available at the bottom of the page. https://www.garesetconnexions.sncf/fr/gare/frxmm/monaco-monte-carlo/plan-de-la-gare
If you are travelling LNER to Edinburgh then you can make a reservation free of charge at the link below. Both LNER & Avanti (on the west coast route to Glasgow) also have unreserved coaches, but if you are travelling at a peak time then a reservation is best. https://www.lner.co.uk/travel-information/make-a-reservation/ Reservations are currently open up until mid September.
I see that train is an OBB Nightjet, so you definitely need a reservation.
If you want to reserve seats in the Panorama Cars then go to the Rhaetian Railway site (they are private & separate to SBB)….here you go - https://www.rhb.ch/en/panoramic-trains/bernina-express
