My friend in Berlin just sent me this, read and weep...https://www.rbb24.de/panorama/beitrag/2022/07/interrail-ticket-zugreise-berliner-studentin-interview.html
We are trying very hard to make our Renfe / AVE reservations for our ‘Spain cityhopping trip’ on time, which is rather complicated as most people here know, so if all else fails we will be forced to try making our reservations very last-minute, AT the Renfe / AVE stations. So these questions are basically about this worst case scenario: -How last-minute can we make reservations AT the departure stations? At least 48 hours in advance? 24 hours in advance? 1 hour in advance?-Can we -for example- reserve seats between Madrid and Bilbao when we are in the -for example- Seville RENFE station? Or can we only reserve trips starting from Seville from there? -In hindsight: As we have planned only 5 trips (Seville - Granada | Granada - Madrid | Madrid - Bilbao | Bilbao - Zaragoza | Zaragoza - Girona) wouldn’t we have been better off with a Renfe pass for international travellers? Would this have saved us all the reservation hassle that we got ‘for free’ with our One Country Passes Spain, as Renfe
Hi there,We have travelled in Spain by train / AVE lots of times before (especially between 2014 and 2017) and we always made our reservations via a Dutch company specialized in international train travel, called Treinreiswinkel.nl. In the past, they were very customer friendly, but now (having changed to Treinreiswinkel / Happyrail) it’s quite the opposite…In fact they promised to make our reservations as always (5 in total, so no huge number), but as soon as we bought our Interrail passes from them, they simply said ‘thank you very much’ and left us in the cold time after time, simply refusing to help us any further. So now, months later and with our planned trip approaching quickly (mid august), we still have NO reservations whatsoever…So we would really like to make our own reservations online at Renfe.com, but even that seems impossible… It’s 2022, so this can’t be right, can it?? Are we overlooking something? Or is it really impossible to make RENFE / AVE reservations for Inter
Hi there,It’s the 1st of July and it looks like Renfe just completed its schedule for August at renfe.com.Some trains of our trip seem available (at least for regular -expensive- tickets, guess we’ll have to wait and see if there’ll be any seats left for Interrailers...), but Granada-Madrid simply changed from ‘not available yet’ to half ‘not available yet’ / half sold out (‘tren completo’), even for regular tickets...... just like that, for ALL trains and for the WHOLE month of August!Same at the trainline.com, raileurope and omio… How is this even possible? All pre-reservations? Does anyone have a clue?
