Maybe a silly question but with a pass, do I still need to book tickets with the reservation system? Or is it only when booking a seat is required? Normally, if a trip is showed on my online pass without seats to be booked, I can take the train, right?

that’s correct. If you can see the train without the famous sentence in red “you need seat reservations” it’s ok to simply hop on and enjoy the trip. Your pass is your ticket 😀
