I had to postpone an overnight sleeper reservation yesterday as my wife sprained her foot. Bought another reservation for today and was unable to get a refund at Bucharest station where I bought both passes. Is it possible to get a refund? Reservations cost c €80. Many thanks.

Reservations for Nighttrains are usually just refundable till one day before depature e.g. for a train departing at 15.45 on the 9th April you could only get a refund till 23.59 on the 8th April 
There are some exceptions for example Czech Rail offer the big refund just till 15days before depature and after that just the small refund till one day before depature :/
I have a Travelinsurance to cover such unexpected problems.
If the place that sold you the reservation couldn't give you a refund you can check with your travel insurance.
