Hi there, we’re trying to book the night train to Craiova on the Thursday, the direct train, but it says only paper tickets are available. When we go to order paper tickets it says they won’t be posted in time. What can we do?

Most likely from Budapest/HU?
IF a seat-only is enough-at Keleti station in Bp. OR-as you likely travel via DE-try at any DB Reisecenter when you change and have some time. (as I do now using its wifi). Maybe there is even still a couchette/sleeper avialable.
DO check again-better via bahn.com if this train does run-the app is often out of date and there are works on 1 of the main lines HU-RO.
Craiova is an awful ugly city with giant carfactory (used to be the Dacia). But you can change there for the newer side way via various changes into Bulgaria.
