It is too early for me to book a seat as they are not available for July yet, but I have been looking to get an indication of price for budgeting.

I am using 2x Adult and 1xChild (9) 1st Class Passes. If I try to book a seat reservation it only offers me 2nd class, if I remove the child then 1st is offered. Should I make 3 adult seat reservations as my passes are all 1st Class?

It’s always handy when we know an exact route and date for inquiries like this.

Your best bet is to just look for the same options on a similar route, but for e.g. next week, to get indications of the price. Seat reservations usually cost the same for adults and kids, but differs in price for class usually.

Thanks Brendan, sorry maybe I should have said. I’m looking at Malmo to Stockholm and Stockholm to Östersund. Looked in coming weeks to get an idea, however as soon as I have a child on the query I am not offered 1st Class.

Where are you looking to make seat reservations? Interrail/Eurail reservation service, SJ.se?

You should book all passholder reservations as adult.

Read this page, it explains how to get Swedish reservations.

And the overview page for all reservations.
