When planning my trip I have a pass for myself and a child’s pass (free) for my daughter who will be under 12 the entire time.

My question is, how do I do travel planning so that we are both on the same trips and seated together?  Do I have to essentially put her in her own trip and manually duplicate everything and just watch seating charts?

You can add a journey to both trips at the same time.

Making reservations is entirely separate from the pass. You'll be seated together, if possible, if you make the 2 reservations together.

Reservations are separate from your pass so you just make two reservations together for those trains where reservations are needed. Just entering a Journey to your Trip doesn't make any reservation.
