I have went on to Eurail and put in my place of departure and place of arrival, I am not making this trip until next year but I’m checking into times I would want to leave from and arrive at and how I would go about booking it and making reservations for it. ( Really like this one because it is only one change) I have looked at this itinerary all the way from this date until December 13 and everyone of them says sold out for the TGV INOUI train, I have been putting this itinerary in for the last two weeks and it continuously says sold out, I have went to their website and they say not available but I can’t figure out how to do the reservation part that is just trying to get a ticket. Could someone please walk me through the steps of how to get the reservation for this particular itinerary for this train out of Milano P. Garibaldi TGV INOUI SNCF Voyages to Paris Gare De Lyon. Thank you in advance for anyone’s help🤗

PARIS GARE DE LYON (France)

Hello

The line between Milan and Paris is currently interrupted and you must take replacement buses for a part of the trip. The line will probably reopen until the end of 2024, but it is not possible to buy tickets and reserve seats in Italy and France when the definitive timetables are not known.

With an Eurail Pass you can reserve seats on raileurope.com or eurail.com for example, but it works only when you have already a pass. The pass must not be activated.

Thank you for your response. So they are not allowing any reservations for that train from (TGV INOUI) all the way to the end of this year? I had been trying before this last problem (fire) and it was still not letting me go through the process of trying to do a reservation. I know I don’t have to activate my passes to do a reservation as per customer service told me through Eurail, I was just wanting to go through the right steps to get a reservation (hopefully without paying the extra fees just reservations) like how would I go about setting my reservation up with OBB site? And also with Eurostar I need a reservation from Paris to London in April and I see they are already in Feb 2025 now?

I found following informations for the SNCF:

TGV from 15/12/2024 to 08/01/2025 : tickets available from 02/10/2024

TGV from 09/01/2025 to 23/03/2025 : tickets available from 13/11/2024

This is really a problem in Europe, some railways open the reservations very late. When you buy a ticket in Italy and France, the timetable is printed on the ticket. If the train has a delay, you can obtain a compensation. They don’t want sell the tickets until all engineering works are planned, with sometimes detours or cancellations, to avoid to pay these compensations for planned situations.

Another problem is that transporters must obtain an authorization to run a train on a line and they don’t know months in advance if they will get this authorization or not.

Other railways sell ticket six months in advance, but inform you with a mail if the timetable changes and offer the possibility to take any other train on the same day. It works only if reservations are not mandatory.

How would I go about making a reservation with SNCF for this particular train when it becomes available for my dates?  Because I have had no luck pretending I’m going to get one through Eurail or raileurope because they alway say sold out no mater if I put in today’s date or 3 weeks from now or in December. I just want to make sure I’m going to the right place to reserve it when it becomes available because this is the only train with this time available and itinerary. I greatly appreciate the information!

I think that they don’t sell reservations for Eurail/Interrail pass holders due to the limited capacity. It will be better if the line reopens in the next months and more trains are running.

If the line not reopens until the date of your trip, you should choose another itinerary, for example via Switzerland.

I guess I will just keep my eye open for new dates to arrive and hopefully my itinerary will be apart of it by April🤞🏻 Thank you
