I'm currently traveling by train from Bucharest to Budapest and it will have about 2 hours delay. Is there any way to get a refund from the transport company (Mav/Mav start)?

Do I need to get a proof of delay by the staff?

Thank you for your answers in advance!

:)

If you’re using an Interrail pass, you can file you compensation claim here.

Confirmation is not needed, although it doesn’t hurt either.

With IR (and Eur) you can only get a tiny sum back as compensation IF you had at least 3 delays of > 1hr.
if you bought a single ticket from MAV then -no need to even ask here- contact them. And be prepared for refusal, there are alwys some reasons beyond their control.

This is not the case anymore, see the conditions of use on page 25. 1 delay is enough.

Force majeure is not a permissible ground to refuse compensation for delay. See EU Regulation 1371/2007 and the 2013 judgement of the European Court of Justice.
