When we made reservations for our train and planned our trip there was no construction work planned in Italy. But tomorrow we leave Budapest to go to Rome with the nightjet from Vienna and have to have a transfer in Bolonga. We planned it exactly so it would only take one day, because we board the train before midnight and were not supposed to have a transfer. With the transfer it would take an extra day on our interrail and we simply don't have room for that. So do we need to make room in our days and pay our self for a ticket for the extra trainday or is this covered by the rail company?

My understanding is because you have a valid reservation till Rome that it will be no new travelday 🙂 as the train Bologna - Rome is just a replacement 🙂 bestway is to ask the station staff in Vienna or the train staff of Nightjet how to handle it :/
