Problems with Spain and Portual trip

I wanted to make an Interrail trip to Portugal this year, then when I started planning I found out there are almost no train connections between Spain and Portugal…

On the Interrail page I saw an article that said there are two trains per day from Vigo (Spain) to Portugal, but it’s from 2017 and in the Railplanner App it tells me there are no connections via Vigo.

My original plan was to travel through northern Spain and enter Portugal from there and travel back through southern Spain.

Now I just want a route where I can be sure I get into Portugal and out again without too much stress because I only have about 14 days of vacation.

I am thankful for any tips or tricks or experiences to help me out, thanks in advance.

What the rail planner app says is irrelevant because it's unreliable.

There are still 2 trains per day between Porto and Vigo. They're also in the app, but maybe not yet for your travel date.

You can also travel via Badajoz. Also see this page:
