I am planning the following trip from Sevilla to Porto involving 3 reservations,
provisionally on September 12, using my Interrail Pass

(data from Bahn)

Sevilla s. Justa             0742
Cordoba                       0826
    dep.                          0836 AVE 2073
Madrid P. De Atocha    1035
  dep. M-Chamartin      1120  A 4115
Vigo Urzais                  1538  IC 422
  dep.Vigo Guixar         1956
Porto Campanha          2118

An alternative is an all-day Flixbus from Sevilla to Porto for 34 euros, saving an Interrail travel day.

  • What is the total cost of the reservations in comparison?
  • Is it possible to include a stopover in Cáseras?

Thank you,

Brian.

You could take the 07:10 direct AVE to Madrid-Atocha: 10€ reservation + 2€ fee. Also 10+2€ for the ARC and Vigo - Porto is free.

I guess I'd take a Flixbus to Faro (for example 08:20 departure at 20€) and then trains, likely with change in Lisbon.

100% agree.

I would take the Flixbus to Faro, then get on the trains from there. Much quicker than the route via Madrid, much more comfortable than Flixbus all the way!

There’s a connection via Lisbon at 1415, or a direct train at 1600. The Portuguese AP and IC trains cost €5 reservation fee each.
