We would like to do a day trip from Vienna to Bratislava with my first class interrail pass. I can see that no reservation is needed from Vienna to Bratislava. Is it also the case that we do not need a reservation to go from Bratislava to Vienna? This is probably a silly question but I’d like to be sure.

Most trains between Vienna and Bratislava are regional express trains for which reservation is not even possible. There are also a few IC and Railjet trains but reservations for those is only optional on this route.
Thank you, I did think it was the case that we don’t need a reservation in either direction.
