I am flying into Paris CDG in on oct 17 2024. I have purchased a first class one month country pass for France. I arrive at Paris CDG at around 12:30 pm and would like to take the train from Paris Gare Montparnasse. It takes about 1:05 min to get from Paris CDG to Gare Paris Montparnasse.   The eurail website says I need a reservation to board the train to Bordeaux at Gare Paris Montparnasse. I am uncertain if my flight will arrive on time so am unsure what train to book my reservation on. Is there usually enough room on the train so that I could make a reservation at Paris CDG when I arrive and know when I will get to Gare Paris Montparnass?

On a Thursday outside school holidays + travelling in 1st class you'll be fine. I'd still book the 3pm TGV ahead -> reservations are fully cancellable until 30 min after departure anyway.

Otherwise you could take the slow but direct TGV leaving CDG Airport at 16:19.

You could even book both TGVs and then cancel the one you don't use.

Cheapest way to book online is on raileurope.com (desktop website, no extra booking fees).

Thank you both for your response.

You can also cancel the tickets in the RailEurope app on your smartphone, but you could have a problem if you are in a delayed long-haul flight without internet connection.

In theory that should indeed work, but when I wanted to do that last month, it just resulted in an error message and I had to use a browser to cancel.
