I have been looking online, Tirano to Milan has a bus replacing the start of the journey, how reliable is this bus? Are there heaps of seats available? Does is leave on schedule?

I’m hoping to catch the 14:56 to arrive in Milan at 17:40, then catch a train to Florence. How long should I leave fore the transfer in Milan? Can I leave it to last minute to reserve seat on the train to Florence? or will it be sold out?

Am I better of to stay a night in Milan then get an early train to Florence?

I’m looking to travel late August

The bus is reliable and there should be enough seats for passengers.

The connection to the train is guaranteed aka the train will wait if the bus is delayed.

I'd have a 30 min break in Milan in case so you could take this train without issue : 18:10 - 20:04.

Availability a day or two in advance shouldn't be a problem. On the day itself maybe yes maybe no.

The seat reservation costs 13€, best bought on tickets.oebb.at (no booking fee) : add Eurail as a discount and select one-way tickets.
