Train from Madrid to Vigo

Hi,

I am planning a trip on 15.4.2024 from Madrid to Vigo train AVIA 4115. Since weeks most fast trains are only available unti 30.3.2024. On various community entries I found renfe usually makes them available for reservation about 60 days in advance. This would have been 15.2.2024. Unfortunately their phone support is terrible english and  I did not find any mail adress to ask.

Does anybody know what’s ongoing here or where I can buy seat reservations?

Sales have started on the Renfe website. Either Renfe have just opened reservations or they haven't shared their timetable data yet, which is why those timetables are not yet available on the Interrail website (or elsewhere, like the DB website).

You should be able to book a reservation via DB though, since they can book Spanish trains using the train number. Only at a DB ticket office or by phone. Alternatively, wait for the timetables finally to show up on the Interrail website. It's no use calling Renfe about this. You can't book there, since you won't be able to collect your reservation within 72 hours, and they won't know when their trains will show up outside Spain.

Thanks for reply, but RENFE website still says :”The selected route is not currently available for ticket sales or there is no direct connection. Please try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

So I obviously have to wait and scare...🤔

Hm, I could swear I had a timetable form 15/4 on my screen earlier today… but I don't now, so I might have chosen the wrong date.

Anyway, that means nobody can currently book. Just keep trying regularly.

@rvdborgt Train AVIA 4115 is now visible on rnfe and raileurope but not on interrail website. I’am unclear what that means. When adding Interrail pass on raileurope, it says “Seat reservation has to be done at station”. So am I right that the train is included in interrail?

You can use that train with your Interrail pass.

I'm not sure why Interrail can't book it yet. The website shows the train but doesn't offer the possibility to book it. This is also the case for the other direct Madrid-Vigo trains on that day, no matter what date I choose.

@Mukhammad @Camilo. Booking Alvia trains is supposed to be possible on interrail.eu, so what's the problem with the direct Madrid-Vigo trains?

Hi there!

I will check with the timetable team. Thank for flagging this up!

Have a nice week ahead!

Hurray! The train is now listed! However I unsderstand that we will have to buy the seat reaservations at a trainstation in spain. However I am now confident that the trip will happen as planned.

Thx to all!

Funny: In the mobile App it lists €8,50 per seat, in interail web it says “You need to buy a seat reservation to board.” and at raileurop “Seat reservation at train station”.

For a reservation to be possible at a station, it's irrelevant whether the train is visible on the Interrail website. As soon as Renfe open bookings for a domestic train, reservations can be made at ticket offices that sell Renfe reservations.

The reservation fee is €6.50. Interrail charge an extra €2 if you manage to book through them. Rail Europe say "train station” for all reservations they don't offer online.

If you're in Germany before you go to Spain, you can also book at a DB ticket office. There are also a few other possibilities:

@Camilo. This problem still exists. Any idea what the status is?

The direct Madrid-Vigo trains can't be booked on the Interrail/Eurail website, although reservations are open and there are free seats. Booking from Madrid to Pontevedra (1 stop before Vigo) however works.

Monday 6 May 2024:

  1. Madrid-Vigo on Renfe.com:

  2. Madrid-Vigo on interrail.eu:

  3. Madrid-Pontevedra on interrail.eu:

@Camilo. Would it be also possible to group the Vigo main stations in the same way as Madrid is grouped in your app, please. I have also previously reported this issue to Eurail but was told it's a RENFE issue, where I think it's a EURAIL issue.

Hi @rvdborgt
The issue was escalated with the technical specialist, but I haven't received any updates yet. I'm sending a reminder to prompt them for a response.

Dear @Muffy

Do you mean like the search option ‘Madrid - City’?
