I have a Eurail Global Pass and I’m trying to go from Barcelona to Paris on 8 August. The Rail Planner won’t let me reserve a ticket, but it says that ticket reservation is mandatory. I talked to every person I could at the Barcelona Sants station and they all said they wouldn’t deal with international trips. None of the websites I can find work either. I’ve been struggling with this all day trying every option I can.

Weird they didn’t help you anyway.

The direct train will probably be sold out anyway.

Your options:

  • Take a (reservation free) Rodalies train to Cerbère or Portbou.
  • Take in Cerbère (or Portbou) a TER to Perpignan (also reservation free)
  • TGV Perpignan - Paris (if they still have places)

Gonna check for you, stand by for updates!

Okay @mmarkley , your best alternative for 8/08. Direct trains are fully booked

Part 1: Barcelona - Perpignan (no seat reservations needed):

Part 2: Perpignan - Paris

(plenty of availability) get your seat reservation Perpignan-Paris asap here https://travel.b-europe.com/Eurail-GE/en/booking-tgv#TravelWish

Renfe decided not to sell tickets and reservations for this train anymore.

There are 1st and 2nd class seats available in the 16:10 departure tomorrow.

The 14:32 departure only has 1st class available (2 seats).

The 10:33 is fully booked.

To book, call SNCF now (until 20:00, tomorrow from 8:00):

https://www.sncf.com/en/customer-service/contact-us/telephone

(Press #85 for English, delivery via email, no booking fees)

Price is €35.

Other options to book this train:

@Mukhammad @Camilo. The 16:10 from Barcelona cannot be booked via Interrail/Eurail. The booking page never shows availability. That looks like a bug to me.

Hi everyone,

This issue has been happening for quite a while right now. This is being handled by our IT team, as this also involves the configuration from the reservation channel provider which our company uses.

In this case, I agree with solutions given by @BrendanDB & @rvdborgt to either take alternatives or call SNCF, and thanks for that!

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

UPDATE: The reservation availability runs normally again on the Eurail/Interrail reservation pages.

Using the phone number here worked! I was connected to a French service and they reserved me a seat no problem. The only thing of note is that they said you must use a European card to pay (or an American Express card, which I don’t have). Luckily I had an international debit card from when I lived in Germany and that worked. It was 35€ and the woman on the phone was incredibly kind and helpful.

If this happens to you in the future, I recommend just calling. The people at the train station were not helpful!
