If you miss the last connecting train due to a delay of the previous train: Who reimburses the accommodation costs in the City you stranded?

Could you continue the journey the next morning wirhout using another Travel day?

thank you,

hanna

Hi, the train company that runs the train have to help you with an hotel accommodation or voucher or taxi with voucher or getting back the money after. Where did you strand and which train had delay and wich train you have planed to take, if the first train was not delayed?

In most cases however you have to contact a help-centre of that railway-some are very much used to it, others always refuse, and some give you a voucher for a specific hotel. I have also heard that passholders are told to only get a dorm-bed in a hoStel.

In some other countries the railway will not put you up, but have a taxi chartered to bring you-an probably also a few others likewise, to next place where trains run.

I  am very well aware that this is among germans always an immense big issue-FarhrgastRechte!!-but frankly, in most other countries its hardly an issue at all. Expect as a very general rule that in East-EUR there simply wont be any help and you will get fobbed off-there is always the theory and the practice.
