Are 6 passenger night trains safe for families?

Hello,

We’ll be going from Munich to Budapest on a night train.  If we are a family of 4 (a 9-year-old and 11-year-old), I assume that the train company will include 2 other travellers in our 6 passenger night train.  How safe is this?  Is there a chance that in mid-September that the trains are not so full and we’d have a car to ourselves?  How likely would that be?

Thanks!

Night trains are safe. I never had any problems.

They're also popular. September is not the real high season anymore but still busy enough that night trains can be (almost) fully booked. If you want a compartment of your own, then book a 4-person compartment.

The best place to book is nightjet.com: more reliable than eurail.com and no booking fees. Add the Interrail/Eurail discount to get the pass prices.
