I'm on the train to Rome right now, but the conductor won't validate my ticket because the ID-Number on my ticket is different from the number of my personal passport. What can I do?

Show the ID that has that number on it?
Usually they shouldn’t care too much about it but if they want to see it, you should show it….
Best in that case to write no ID number there (with paper pass it is possible). Then you can show flexible the ID that you have with you (or if you own two passports...)

You must always show the ID that you have connected to the pass, either passport or national ID card. This is the main rule of Interrrail.

If you can't show the correct identity card it is counted as if you travel without a ticket and you risk getting a heavy fine.
