Do through night trains exist?

Hello,

I am having difficulty finding a night train from Milan to Geneva, or Milan to Lyon, that does not involve long waits at a station in the middle of the night or the early hours. For me, this defeats the object of a night train: board it in the evening and wake up at the destination!

Thank you for any help or clarification you can bring, Brian.

There are no night trains between Italy and France or Switzerland, mainly due to the low-cost flights that killed them.

There is one from Milan to Munich or Vienna but you have to book it well in advance on nightjet.com. Or one from Nice to Paris.

Thank you. That’s such a pity. I’ll have to find some sort of compromise...
