Hello! I’m trying to plan the final part of my trip this summer. I will be in Bohinj, Slovenia and must get to lake Garda, Italy. I’m going on Saturday July 6th. I have looked on multiple routes, all of which include at least 3-4 stops over 8-9 hours.

I’m flexible with train/bus. Travelling day or night. I would like to avoid going back to Ljubljana but if that is the simplest way I’m open! So looking for shortest travelling route with as few stops as possible.

thank you!

It's not very pleasant timings, but the Nightjet from Munich to La Spezia calls at Villach just after midnight, and then at Peschiera del Garda.

There's also day trains running Villach-Venice-Peschiera.

If the twins between Lesce and Villach don't suit, I think they're are buses

This route isn't shown on most planners but it's the most practical:

- bus to the town

- R Bohinjska Bistrica - Nova Gorica 08:52 - 10:17

- walk across the twin town or short bus hop (1.70€), time for a little coffee

- RV Gorizia Centrale - Venezia Mestre 11:43 - 13:46

- either Frecciarossa Venezia Mestre - Desenzano del Garda 14:00 - 15:21 13€ reservation

- or slower regional trains with a change in Verona
