Hello! This summer, we are going to Germany, Sweden, and Norway, and we have a doubt about whether it’s better to buy a 1st class pass or a 2nd class pass. Can you help me, please?

Route: Berlin - Hamburg- Copenhagen- Stockholm - Oslo -Bergen -Myrdal -Oslo.
(*We would be grateful if you could also make suggestions about the trip)

It’s just a question of more room - 2+1 seating instead of 2+2, and usually a quieter / less full coach.

In Germany, you can order food (not free) from the restaurant to be served in First Class. I think in Sweden Norway, you’ll get a free coffee.

I always buy first class, since the extra cost for a pass is not huge and I appreciate the space, but Second is absolutely fine.

Some general info on First Class from Seat61: https://www.seat61.com/european-train-travel.htm#first-or-second-class

And there are photos on the Country pages, eg Germany: https://www.seat61.com/train-travel-in-germany.htm#What%20are%20German%20trains%20like

Additional advantage in Norway: seat reservations are free of charge with a 1st class pass. Book on entur.no.
