If you want to save a day you should find out if your can board that train before midnight.

You could also cheat and find a theoretical itinerary to get on that train before midnight, while actually doing something else. But that would mean you are travelling without a valid ticket and you should be fined for that. 

You could enter the same nighttrain in Munich before midnight. Than you need only one travel day.
