Hello everyone,

I’m going on a trip with friends during August and we are encountering some issues with the reservation.

We are doing a trip from Paris Nord to Amsterdam Centraal and the Interrail app stats that we need a reservation. However, we can’t find any seats neither on the interrail website nor the b-europe one (there’s even 0 train found). Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem or if we can take the train without reservation (because even with other trains the same day or the day after the reservation is not possible).

The second problem we have is that for a trip from Prague to Offenburg. The interrail app stats that a seat reservation is required but on the website it stats that it is not needed. It is a night train, should we do the reservation ?

Thank you very much for your help :)

1st question : what is your travel date ? This route is extremely popular and Thalys trains have a passholder quota but there are alternatives.

You won't be able to board the train without a reservation (ticket barriers). If you happen to get on board expect a big fine.

2nd question : reservations are optional (but much recommended) on the seating carriages, mandatory on the couchettes and sleepers carriages. Book on cd.cz

This route and night trains in general are very popular so it is possible that it is sold out.

Please mention your travel dates and preferred departure times so we can have a look and propose alternatives if needed.

As to the night train Prague-Offenburg: reservations are optional for seats, but still recommended; the seats run as EC 458. You can book a seat for €3 on cd.cz (use "Reservation only”).

  2. Thank you for the information

Hi,

Thank you.

We travel from the 6th of august to the 15th. The travel from Paris to Amsterdam is the 6th

All Thalys trains to Amsterdam and Brussels are full. Alternatives :

- TGV Paris-Nord - Lille-Flandres 08:46 or 10:16 10€ (free if you go to a SNCF ticket counter)

- hourly reservation-free IC Lille-Flandres - (Kortrijk) - Antwerp - Amsterdam

Option 2 :

- TER Paris-Nord - Maubeuge 10:19 - 12:20

- R Maubeuge - Charleroi-Central 13:43 - 14:38

- hourly IC Charleroi - Antwerp - Amsterdam

I'd choose option 1 and go to a SNCF ticket counter to get the TGV for free ! 🙂 Ask for a billet parcours d'approche

For the night train between Prague and Offenburg, departure 14th or 15th August :

- 73 CZK (3€) on cd.cz for a seat but better get a couchette if you'd like to sleep

- 49€ for a couchette in a 6-people compartment or 59€ in a 4-people one on nightjet.com

To get to Paris afterwards, take any regional train to Strasbourg (with a margin as night trains can get delayed) and from there a TGV to Paris for free (by visiting a SNCF ticket counter as explained above).
