Anyone experience a delay compensation request?

I just discovered that the delay compensation starts @ 1 hour and i already have 3 different days of more than an hour delay. It is not clear what proof you need and what proof I can get a few days after the fact ( Does services like zugfinder count?). Does Interrail self find the delays?

I usually make a screenshot of the timetable where the delay is shown.

I've submitted a few.

Make sure you keep notes of the trains you wanted to travel on/ did travel on, and arrival times.

I was never asked for any proof, just screenshots of my travel diary & ticket. I guess they are able to look up the delay somewhere if they need.

I guess it doesn't hurt to get confirmation from the staff onboard, but in my cases this wasn't necessary.

There is no requirement to supply proof of delay, but it may speed up processing the request.

My wife and I were travelling in France on Interail passes.

on 25 September we suffered from two delays which due to missed connections resulted in significant overall delays. We are claiming compensation from Eurail but they are insisting on proof of the delays which we are finding it difficult to obtain. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Eurail are not allowed to insist on proof of delay, since the applicable EU Regulation doesn't require it. Moreover, it is their task to verify the delay if they wish to do so. All railway companies are required to store their realtime data for at least 1 year for the purpose of handling complaints and verifying delays and cancellations. The data is however not always available publicly, or only for a limited period.

@Eurail Community Moderator can customer service please be informed that supplying proof of delay is not mandatory?

I never got asked for a proof of delay, I was always fine with a screenshot of the travel day and the list of all the trains I wanted to take on that day.

However if you had seat reservations on your delayed SNCF trains, which is very likely, you can also claim a partial refund here (as long as the reservations were issued from the SNCF system): https://www.sncf-voyageurs.com/en/contact-us/request-and-claim/?path=%2FTR&stepCode=TR_VISION_2025_D1

I once got a 10€ refund of a 20€ reservation + a 30€ voucher from SNCF due to a partially cancelled train between Paris CDG and Brussels that way.
