Hi

Wife and I have taken this exciting plunge and purchased 1 month travel card. We are both retired and this is totally outside of our comfort zone.

However we are also really excited on this venture.

We really could do with some help from young experienced travelers from this community.

We are based in the UK.

we have purchased a flight to Oslo , therefore our starting point will be Oslo.

We have got 1 month pass.

Any guidance on where we should go from Oslo will be appreciated.

Our plan is to make it back to the UK , via the Eurostar train , therefore we are totally open as to where and which countries.

Our must is

Switzerland and Vienna

Also has anybody have any experience with Travel Visa for British nationals, as we are now out of Europe, do we need to get Visa ? I had heard that from 2025 we may need visa ? Is this correct

Appreciate your help

No visa needed. You can travel in the Schengen Area for 90 days in any 180 day period. So a month is fine, as long s you haven’t spent a significant time there in the preceding 180 days. Plans for the Electronic Travel Authority (which acts a bit like a visa) have been put on hold for now.

For trip ideas, there are some good itineraries here, which you can use as a starting point. I suggest looking at the rail map and the Seat61 website too.

But in a month you can pick anywhere in the continent really! You might find it easier to break the trip down into chunks - with some fixed points, like getting to Switzerland, and some left open, so you can decide as you go.

You will want to make sure you reserve your Eurostar home as soon as you can.

Thank you very much re Visa and also thank you for the link and the guidance in terms of breaking it down and booking the return leg
