Me asking a question instead of answering one!

I will be using an Interrail Switzerland Pass, and I want to go from Zurich - Milan on EC313.

Is Chiasso the final station of validity of the pass, so I’d buy Chiasso - Milan?

Similarly, if I take EC53 from Bern - Milan instead, I’d have to buy a ticket Brig - Milan?

Thanks for the advice. Pass + ticket from Chiasso accepted without problem.

Breakfasting aboard the EC to Milan, with the added benefit of more scenery, thanks to the closed Gottard Tunnel.

All Swiss tickets/subscriptions are valid until Domodossola. The railway is operated by BLS and SBB. They're also valid on the Centovalli railway : Domodossola - Locarno.

Here is the validity map :

Thank you. I want to make progress, so I'll stay onboard the EC. It's only 20

Even though the pass says it's not valid beyond Switzerland, it's valid to Domodossola?

Chiasso is the border point yes. On Bern - Milan Domodossola is the border point, you can also take Domodossola - Locarno trains with the One-country pass ! :)

Reservations are optional and probably not possible until the border.

As you probably know regional train tickets are cheaper than EC ones.
