i am traveling soon to uk departing from belgium but to activate my interrail pass he asks to enter a passport or ID card. do i have to enter my passport or id card because to travel to uk i have to use a passport due to brexit but the law of my country also requires me to take my id card across the border?

what to use pasport or ID card
You can choose, it doesn't matter as long as you have the passport or card with you.
As you anyway need to bring your passport to enter the UK, you can as well use your passport as identification for your Interrail pass.
