My son is in Italy and has had his phone stolen. It seems as if the pass and it’s functionality is linked to the original ( stolen) phone and is not accessible with another phone. Is this correct and if so how can he book future train journeys?

There is no CallCenter 😕 There is this form and with this form  they decide on the priority of a Problem :)
