I would like to thank the person who wrote somewhere on this site, about what to do if your saved journey in “My Trips” on your Eurail app doesn’t move to the “My Pass,” when tapped. I was a NEW user of digital Eurail Global Flexi Pass in October 2024 (a few weeks ago) and panicked that my very first journey would not transfer to the Pass, when I initiated the Pass. I thought it was lack of internet/wifi.  After frantically running upstairs to the main train station, I discovered that didn’t work, either!  Then I remembered a “passing comment” that someone wrote on this site about what to try if this situation occurs. That person said to “PUT YOUR PHONE IN AIRPLANE MODE AND THEN TURN IT OFF AGAIN.”  BINGO!  That worked!  I only had to do this one time on the 18 trains that I ended up taking.  I wish I could remember the person who gave me this tip, so I could give him/her recognition; since I can’t, I figure the best I can do is to help someone else with this tip.

Also, I suggest leaving BIG TRANSFER TIMES between train changes, as I did miss that first train; plus, several of my trains ended up being VERY late, which would have caused me to miss connections had I not left excessive time gaps, and some trains switched tracks, causing several up and down and across moves to get to the correct track. Deutsche Bahn is not what it used to be, but the Swiss are still punctual!

It’s disappointing that this bug still exists. Thankfully, every ticket inspector I’ve come across has been patient enough to wait or come back while I do the Airplane Mode toggle. Perhaps they’re used to it?

I found the ticket inspectors to be very kind and patient, too!  If I’d have known this, it would have relieved SOME of my initial stress, but I believe no extra amount of time would have solved THIS initial lack of transference to occur.  The glitch is still present, unfortunately.  I was just relieved that it only occurred that one time; the rest of the time, the transfers to the QR code worked fine.

However, not totally trusting digital, before I left home, I had printed out copies of all my train journeys from the trains’ websites for backups and also to be able to see how many stops and town names there were prior to my destination. This helped if the French or German was spoken so rapidly that I couldn’t translate it fast enough. Not all trains have digital displays to show the “Prochain arrêt” or “Nächster Halt” !!!  Some trains don’t announce stops at all !!  Being from America, I have little to no knowledge of train travel, but after 6 European Countries a week ago, I have now seen it is a doable form of transportation for a first-timer -- and even at my age!

I was also surprised to find that for several of the 18 trains, no one even came around to check tickets/ passes.  I did read that fines are extremely high, if you don’t have a ticket/ pass, when they come to check!  But I’m not that kind of person, anyway, so no worries there!  And I did heed the Rail Planner’s advice on which trains to get reservations, thankfully.
