I would like to know if it’s okay to take a train to go through my country of residence with my continuous pass. For example, I live in Germany, but I would like to go from France to Austria in the middle of my trip. Would the pass somehow count the trip as my inbound and outbound trips because there’s a connection in Germany or would it actually be allowed? I believe the answer is yes, but I haven’t found any clear answer to this specific case.

The pass will use one of your 2 Inbound/Outbounddays as you travel in your country of residence. (You will stop at several german stations)
To avoid that you could go from France via Switzerland to Austria :)
Or/oder; Geizgeil-DE ist dran! du gehst mit das 9€ ticket im Nahverkehr. It all depends on where you live and if you could use this for the start/end OUT+INbound-possibilities are endless.
