Can I shorten/exchange my pass for free with PLUS?

I am intending to get the 3 month eurail pass. However, I was wondering whether to add "Plus".

 

It states in the terms and conditions that "If your travel plans change you can request an exchange for free. Simply order a new Pass that fits your new needs and contact our customer service to request the refund of your old Pass."

 

Does this mean that, if I were to cut short my trip, and only travel for 2 months, am I able to travel, and then request for an exchange to a 2 months pass, even though I am halfway through my trip?

NO, as far as I know this is only possible BEFORE you start using it. Once activated, no more refunds or exchanges. Also see that the actual difference in price between 1 or 2 and also 2 to 3 monthes is quite small-in fact often less as the cost of 1 longer multi-country trip.

In case you have to shorten trip due to sickness or the like, then insurance should be responsible.
