Confusion on starting location vs first destination - first time Eurail

Hey folks! It’s my first time purchasing a Eurail pass so I want to be sure I’m doing this correctly. I’ll be driving around with a friend in England and Brussels where my solo travel begins. From Brussels I want to use the pass to take the train to Amsterdam, and then several other places next (Brussels> Amsterdam> Berlin> Cologne> Luxembourg City> Paris). So my question is, when booking the Eurail pass do a select my first city as Amsterdam since it’s my first destination, or do I select Brussels as my starting location? I appreciate the help!

I also read something about the inbound/outbound trips; can anyone elaborate?

Lastly, since this is my first trip, if anyone has some broad pointers or insider tips to share, I totally welcome them!

Just ignore the website and start making a plan, with a timetable. bahn.com is quite good for that.

Then count the number of days you will board a train.
