Hello. My wife and I are planning a trip to Europe in September 2025. We will visit France, Switzerland and Italy over a period of 3 weeks. Our major means of transportation is intended to be the Eurail Pass, but we will be spending some time in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland, and would appreciate some advice on the best options for travel there. Our current plan is to buy a 7 non-consecutive day pass and also a 3 or 4 day Jungfrau pass. We would use the Eurail pass to travel from Paris to Colmar, Colmar to Lucerne, Lucerne to the Jungfrau region (Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald probably), and then stay 4 nights there. We understand that the Eurail pass would be strictly limited in the Jungfrau region, so we would purchase a 3 or 4 day Jungfrau pass to get around between Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen, etc, while we were there. We would then use out Eurail pass to take us out of Switzerland and on to Italy, where we would spend the remainder of our vacation. I’ve done some reading on the options for Switzerland, but there are so many and they seem to overlap a lot. I’d like some feedback on our plan if anyone can help. Ultimately, our goal is simplicity and we would not be upset if we didnt get the absolute lowest price, although obviously we wouldnt want to pay a lot more. Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance

Honestly the Jungfrau Pass is too expensive. Even for the aforementioned mountain you need to pay 63 CHF extra lol.

I would probably get a 10 day Eurail Pass or simply buy regular tickets there.

For example Lauterbrunnen - Wengen full-fare return costs 23.60 while Lauterbrunnen - Wengen return is 14.40. Not that expensive.

The Eurail coverage has also greatly expanded in the last year: Lauterbrunnen - Wengen/Mürren is now 100% covered. 25% discount for Schilthorn, Kleine Scheidegg, Jungfrau, 50% First (no pass day required for discounts).

Side note: boats on Lake Thun and Brienz are fully included in Eurail. Really cool experience, esp. on the less busy late afternoon boats! ;)

Thibcabe Thank you very much. This is very helpful. As a follow up, and probably in a new thread, I’m going to ask if there is somewhere that has a detailed map showing Eurail coverage. The ones I can find on the Eurail website dont seem to show the routes in the Jungfrau region

This is the map of coverage in Switzerland:

Rdvborgt Thank you very much. This is perfect
